Seven Bells: Crazy man restores a classic wooden boat

Insane. That's the only word I can think of to describe myself. How else can I refer to the impulsive frame of mind that led me to purchase a 70-year-old boat with the demented notion of restoring it to its former state of glory?

The name of the boat was Seven Bells, and I found her rotting away at a dock in San Rafael, California, north of the Golden Gate Bridge and hovering on the west side of San Francisco Bay.  After a few months of preliminary work to fix the most obvious damage that had accrued over the years, we shipped the boat to Seattle and contracted with CSR Marine to undertake a complete process of restoring the boat to original beauty and functionality.
